Brunning & Price Original Bitter

Here at Brightside Brewing Company, we strive to make high quality, great tasting beers. We’ve learned our craft over years of brewing and think we have a good feel for what our customers enjoy.

At the start of 2022 the Brunning & Price Group were looking for a new house beer to serve their guests. Pubs in the region each submitted their favourite Northern breweries to be considered, and we were one of four selected to brew a bespoke beer for the group. These four beers were then taste tested by a panel of 16 enthusiastic beer lovers from the group, who then shortlisted two for a final round of testing.

We were super excited to make it through to the final phase of the tender, and asked the group to come visit the brewery for the day for further tasting. Whilst here they learned about our brewing process, how we make our beer gluten-free and had time to meet the team responsible for creating our beers. It was also a great chance for us to find out more about their pubs and customers too as there were a lot of managers in the group that we hadn’t met before. 

We were thrilled when Brightside triumphed in the process and came out top.

By August of the same year, the group had started serving B&P Original Bitter in their Northern pubs. We’ve since casked over 85,000 pints of house beer for the group, with this number growing steadily going into January 2023.

About The Beer

If you’d like to taste the beer yourself, B&P Original is a light copper coloured bitter, which focuses heavily on a biscuity, roasted malt profile. The hops are on the citrus side, but have been purposley kept subtle to be in keeping with this style of ale; just enough to balance the gentle malt sweetness, and provide a clean finish to the beer.
