5 Best Pub Walks Near Manchester

Sometimes there’s no better feeling than putting on your walking shoes and going for a nice stroll down a country path somewhere; better still when there’s a nice local pub or bar to stop at along the way. Warm fires roaring during the Winter, and beer gardens in the Summer, it’s the perfect way to spend a Sunday.

Here are some of our favourite pub walks near Manchester (and where you can enjoy a pint of Brightside along the way):

1. Bridgewater Canal Path and Worsley Old Hall

Bridgewater Canal

The 39 mile route stretches all the way from Salford, through Trafford & Altrincham and out towards Warrington. Whether you’re going for a walk, run or cycle, it’s a pleasant (and mostly flat) route for those of all abilities to enjoy.

Heading up from Worsley, you’ll find the stunning Worsley Old Hall. It’s a traditional pub, serving fresh food, cask ales and wine. Stopping off here, you’ll be able to enjoy a refreshing pint of their Original Bitter; a house beer we brew at Brightside for Brunning & Price group

2. Lymm Dam and The Little Manor

The village of Lymm is simply beautiful and is the perfect place to spend the morning. Lymm Dam serves as the central point of the walk, with plenty of footpaths, canals and the nearby Trans Pennine Trail to choose from when walking around this area. Whether you’re in the mood for a coffee at a local café, or a pint of beer, there are many places to choose from.

If you’re looking for Brightside, you’ll find us on tap at the Little Manor in Thelwall Village. Walking through the centre of Lymm, you’ll be able to walk to the Little Manor in less than an hour. A perfect spot to relax after a morning of being out and about.

4. Salford Quays and Craftbrew

Since the redevelopment, Salford Quays is a unique area to go for a walk. The area is rich in history, from times where the Manchester Ship Canal was used to connect Manchester to Liverpool to now being a bustling hub of entertainment, nightlife, bars and restaurants. You don’t have to walk far around this area to see the history of the place merging with the modern redevelopments since the turn of the century. After your stroll around the Quays, why not stop by at Craftbrew? Serving a range of draft & casked beers (including Brightside), it’s a great spot to stop and watch the world go by.

5. The Outwood Trail and Radcliffe Market

Radcliffe Market Hall

We didn’t have to go far to find inspiration to talk about this walk. The Outwood Trail connects Prestwich and Radcliffe, taking you through woodlands along the former railway line. Along this route, you’ll find things such as the Outwood Viaduct, Outwood Country Park and the Giant Meccano Bridge. If you’re heading along the trail towards Radcliffe, why not stop by Radcliffe Market. With several vendors, including their very own bar stocking Brightside’s finest beers, you won’t be short of food & drink options by stopping off here. Alternatively, walk down the road and pop by our brewery shop and treat yourself to some of our bottled beers!
